Our School Vision

Thomas Jefferson is a 3rd thru 6th grade upper elementary school located on the corner of South 7th and Pecan Street.  We are a school that serves the local community students with rigorous academics and a wide variety of extracurricular activities. 

Our priority is student achievement. To accomplish this, we envision:

  • A true partnership includes students, parents, faculty, staff, administration, and community resources.

  • A well-equipped, qualified faculty and staff that puts students first, exhibits strong leadership, a passion for learning, and a commitment to success for every student.

  • A curriculum based on research and best practices that allows students to demonstrate knowledge through a variety of activities.

  • A physical place that is safe, clean, and conducive to supporting developmentally appropriate learning opportunities.

We, the administration, faculty, and staff at Thomas Jefferson, believe:

● A quality education will help develop individuals who will be life-long learners.

● Our students should be given opportunities to learn independently as well as cooperatively.

● Our students are unique and will develop and learn at different rates and in different ways.

● Our students learn best through active participation in their own learning.

● Parents are essential to the success of our children

● The school should create and maintain a partnership with the home and the community in order for quality education to take place.

● The school, home, and community should encourage and expect students to become

responsible, caring citizens.

● Teachers plan with students in mind and create opportunities for students to be

decision-makers in their learning.

● A variety of methods, materials, and activities that interest and challenge the student should be used to actively engage students in the education process.

● Ongoing assessment and progress monitoring should be provided to ensure students are receiving proper and individualized instruction.

● Technology that enhances learning should be regularly incorporated into the curriculum.
